The facility will primarily support the operation of nickel mines . The Hélio Boulouparis 2 project consists of over 58,000 solar panels with a cumulative peak capacity of 16 MW – enough to cover the energy needs of over 21,000 residents of New Caledonia. The plant will also feature a lithium-ion battery storage system with a capacity of nearly 10MW (The hours of storage were not released).
